1. What is StereoPaint?
Stereopaint is a paint package for converting a single 2D flat image into Stereoscopic 3D images with real depth.
You manually paint over an image using a 3D cursor to push and pull parts of the image in 3D.

2. That sounds complicated! Is it?
Of course not! If you can click a mouse you can use this program, it is actually almost that simple.
Being able to cross your eyes to view stereo images will give you the full benefit of this program.

3. How does it work?
Stereopaint has an innovative Depth Cursor that shows you how deep your brush is. You then pull and push parts of the image in 3D space.

4. Sounds cool! Show me how to use it!
Okay, here goes.
Run Stereopaint. By default you should see 2 identical images (you can replace them with any image you like using File ->Load Both Images)
Now cross your eyes as you would to view a cross-stereo pair (_sx) until the images look like one flat image.
The cursor over the image will look like it's floating above it.
To adjust the depth of the cursor use the mousewheel, or press the '<' key or the '>' key (, or . ).
Click and drag in the right image where you think the cursor is at the right depth. E.g. push the cursor further away for distant objects, pull it forward for nearer ones. It's really quite obvious when you see it working. You will see that part of the image being pushed or pulled towards the cursor in 3D.
If you make a mistake just use the right button whiledragging to undo parts of the image.
Use the middle button to "pick up" depth from the depth map (if available) and apply it to the cursor ( The cursor snaps to depth )
To adjust the cursor's size use the '[' and ']' keys.
Save your Stereoscopic masterpiece when you are done. ( File -> Save Composite )
Save the depth map so that you can easily adjust your image later ( File -> Save Depth Image )
That's it!

5. Keyboard Shortcuts
Z , X - Zoom in and out, not recommended on large images as there is performance degradation.
, . < > - Adjust the cursor depth
[ ] - Adjust the cursor size

6. Mouse
Left button - Push or pull underlying image data to the cursor's depth
Right button - Reset underlying depth to 0
Middle button - Pick up depth from Depth Map, otherwise set it to 0
Mousewheel - Push or pull the cursor in 3D space
Shift+Mousewheel - Adjust size of cursor
Shift+Move - constrain to movement axis

7. Interface
Toolbar
Shows current depth, size and behaviour ( values can be adjusted with the sliders )
